At Weir, we offer a range of floating pontoon barges and pump floats to provide efficient and reliable dewatering solutions across a variety of industries and applications.
Water is critical for every mine site; without it the entire operation would stop. But every site faces a different challenge with water - it's either scarce, or in excess and causing an issue. Environmental and geological considerations as well as local climatic variations can also present unique challenges.
This makes it inappropriate to use a ‘one size fits all’ approach, especially when the water flow requirements of each site are different, not to mention other variations such as operating depths and existing piping systems.
Whatever the challenge, a comprehensive, reliable and flexible dewatering plan is required.
Our sophisticated pontoon barge designs allow pumping equipment to be floated over water bodies for easier access. They can also be fixed to banks with access walkways or set up as standalone installations.
All of our floating pontoon barges are rigorously tested and include optimal safety features to help prevent risk to operators. They can be constructed from a variety of materials from heavy-duty steel to low-density polyethylene with steel frames, for lighter applications.
Each barge system is designed with a fully tested anchoring system and can also be customised for extreme weather conditions.
Combining ruggedness and flexibility, our pontoon barges are available with:
We also offer a range of pump floats to suit submersible pump applications allowing us to provide the perfect dewatering configuration to meet your needs.

Our range of pump floats are designed to suit submersible pump applications.
Multiflo® polyethylene submersible pump floats are specifically designed for submersible pump applications. They offer a solution to vertically suspend one submersible pump without the need for large flotation equipment such as pontoons and barges. Our range of Multiflo® ball floats come in three different sizes with up to 452kg of buoy capacity and can be used across a range of environments. They are also rated for temperatures between -45°C and +40°C.
Recommended Industries: Mining, Sand and Aggregates, Infrastructure, General Industry
Multiflo® polyethylene submersible frame floats are specifically engineered for submersible pump applications. These modular pontoon floats contain an epoxy-coated steel frame and modular roto-moulded polyethylene (PE) floats. They can suspend up to two submersible pumps vertically or horizontally without the need for large flotation equipment such as pontoons or barges. Multiflo® frame floats are available in two sizes with up to 2,360 kgs (5190lbs) of buoyancy capacity, and can therefore be used across a range of environments and applications. They are also rated for temperatures between -45°C and +40°C.
Recommended Industries: Mining, Sand and Aggregates, Infrastructure, General Industry
Multiflo® pontoon barges are renowned for their low maintenance requirements. However, if you do require replacement parts for your pontoon barge system or pump float, please contact our team.
All Multiflo® pontoon barges and pump floats are backed by our unmatched Weir Minerals service centre network. This means that our team of dewatering specialists are here to support you, every step of the way, wherever you may be.
We can provide tailored advice, service exchange options and routine servicing on site or at one of our dedicated service centres.
We can also arrange scheduled site visits, help with moving or relocating equipment and inspect wear and overall performance.
