Lewis® Vertical Sulphur Pumps

Lewis® vertical centrifugal pumps are a family of engineered-to-order, steam-jacketed sulphur pumps that are designed to meet a variety of applications.

Overview

Lewis® vertical sulphur pumps are designed for the production, transfer and processing of sulphur in refineries, gas and acid plants.

These pumps can be supplied in two distinct configurations.

Submerged bearing models are used for relatively clean sulphur applications and the cantilevered shaft design is used for applications where impurities exist, also known as ‘dirty sulphur’.

Features and Benefits

Engineered to Perform in Tough Applications

The heavy-duty construction of our Lewis® vertical sulphur pumps eliminates shaft sealing problems generally associated with horizontal pumps requiring a pressurised stuffing box or seal, ensuring both environmental protection and operator safety.

Heavy-duty Construction

The heavy-duty vertical pump construction is designed for applications involving heavy (1.8 specific gravity) fluids resulting in smooth, vibration-free operation at all points on the pump curve.

Self-lubricated Line-Shaft Bearings

Where provided, line-shaft bearings are self-lubricated by the molten sulphur being pumped, eliminating the problems and unreliability of an external lubrication source.

Why Weir?

Since establishing the Lewis brand in 1891, we have been a leader in pump manufacturing.
