Valves

Reliable and efficient industrial, process and mining valves to suit a wide range of applications.

Overview

At Weir, we consider our valves to be a vital piece of equipment, enabling you to isolate and shutdown other equipment safely, preventing small problems from becoming plant-wide disasters.

That is why we offer a large selection of valve brands and types to our customers, with each offering their own advantages depending on the application.

Factoring valve selection into a plant’s core design is essential to ensure safe and reliable operation. However, before choosing any Weir® valve, it is important to consider the following:

  • If you know you’re going to be working with sulfuric acid, factor Lewis® specialty valves in early to prevent a situation where your plant gets shut down due to a standard valve being worn away after just a month of operation.
  • If you suspect that throughput is going to change significantly along with the ore body, factor that into your Isogate® valve selection.
  • If you know you’re going to need a robust tailings valve, secure a Delta Industrial™ valve to avoid unnecessary downtime.

Another issue we often see is customers using identical valves and valve brands that they used on a different project by default.

This approach is fraught with danger given every process is subtly different in ways that can significantly affect valve performance and ultimately, the bottom line.

When our expert team of valve professionals get involved early in the process, we can help to ensure that you achieve optimal wear life and minimise problems.

Applications

We manufacture and supply a wide range of industrial and mining valves to suit varying applications and feed materials.

Our mining valves can be used across numerous mining processes within the mill circuit, tailings and leaching applications. We also offer industrial valves, which are more suited to specialised applications, including those with chemicals and acids.

We also supply valves that successfully integrate with our leading range of Warman® pumps.

Specialty Acid Valves

Lewis® Specialty Acid Valves

The Lewis brand is known worldwide as a leader in the design and manufacture of piping and control valves for sulphuric acid applications. Our range of Lewis® specialty valves include butterfly, gate and globe valves - all designed with an all-metal construction featuring our proprietary Lewmet® nickel-chrome alloys. The mechanical engineering concepts embodied in our Lewis® sulphuric acid valves ensure consistent flow control and maximum corrosion resistance in high-temperature sulphuric acid and oleum applications.

Recommended Industries: General Industry

Designed for low maintenance and long wear life, our range of slurry valves consistently perform in tough conditions, including those with abrasive or corrosive slurries. Whether you need a knife gate valve, pinch valve or check valve for mining, or even an industrial application, our Isogate® and Delta Industrial™ slurry control valves provide ease of maintenance and maximum reliability. With slurry valve experts across six continents, we can help you get your flow under control, anytime, anywhere.

Heavy-duty Delta Industrial™ Knife Gate Valves

Delta Industrial™ knife gate valves have been the market leader in the range of shear gates for many years. Unlike many other high-pressure and heavy-duty knife gate valves, Delta Industrial™ valves provide bi-directional zero-leakage isolation and offer long-term performance with exceptional isolation results, protecting your people, plant and environment from process fluids. Delta Industrial™ valves are designed specifically to handle heavy-duty, abrasive and high-temperature slurry applications with an innovative design, industry-leading performance, customisable features and absolute dependability.

Isogate® Wafer-style Knife Gate Valves

Frequently used within mining, our lightweight Isogate® wafer-style knife gate valves are ideal for low-pressure slurry transport duties, classification, tailings, filtration and dredging. Thanks to their great abrasion resistance and reliability, they are frequently used for abrasive slurry services that contain a high percentage of solids.

Isogate® Mechanical and Pneumatic Pinch Valves

Our range of Isogate® mechanical and pneumatic pinch valves are especially designed to provide effective control of abrasive and corrosive flow in mining and industrial process systems. The double-acting pinch mechanism closes the pinch sleeve along the valve centerline to maximise control of the process flow and minimise wear damage to the sleeve liner. Isogate® pneumatic pinch valves are especially ideal for remote operations using typical plant air, and do not require auxiliary cylinder actuators.

Isogate® Check Valves

Our range of Isogate® check valves are designed for reverse flow prevention and quick changeover between duty and stand-by pumps in tough slurry applications. These valves are especially suited to mining and are often used within processes including fines removal, desliming, flotation, filtration and processing of coarse and fine particles. However, they can also be used in some industrial applications including chemical manufacturing, storage and sugar milling.

Isogate® Wide-body Knife Gate Valves

Isogate® wide-body knife gate valves are engineered to provide reliable on-off flow control service in tough, abrasive and corrosive applications. They are designed to deliver reliability and long service life in severe and high-pressure flow applications. Frequently used within mining and a number of industrial applications, these wide body are ideally designed for slurry transportation, tailings, concentrate and filtration, dredging and digesting. They are especially suited to applications involving pulp and paper, cement, sand and gravel, mineral sands, phosphate, alumina and soda ash.
